Originally developed from my thesis in Cultural Heritage Studies, In bilico is a journey through historical documents, oral histories, and local archives. It tells the story of Cinzago, a tiny hamlet of Cannobio on Lake Maggiore—today home to only one resident, yet with a history stretching back to the late Middle Ages.

The book is the result of in-depth research: I examined 15th-century parchments, consulted parish and land records, and spoke with former inhabitants to reconstruct the life of this seemingly forgotten place.

It offers an artistic, human, and historiographical perspective on a village that, despite its size, holds a rich and meaningful identity.

For me, it’s also a deeply personal story: Cinzago is the place where I literally learned to walk.
